NCREPT invites applications for the position of Managing Director
The National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission within the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas invites applications for the position of Managing Director to begin in the Spring or Summer of 2008. At least ten years experience in the electric power industry is desired. Applicants are expected to have a degree in Electrical Engineering. NCREPT is home to a new state-of-the-art 6.5 MVA test facility and an impressive array of power electronic laboratories involving modeling and simulation, IC design, power electronics design, power electronic packaging, and test.
Specific duties include marketing the capabilities of NCREPT, recruiting new industrial partners to join the center, preparing center-related reports such as the NCREPT Annual Report, overseeing the scheduling and safe operation of the new 7000 ft2 distribution test facility, working with the faculty directors and industrial advisory board to establish and fund new initiatives, and aiding NCREPT Executive Director managing the day-to-day operations of the center. Applicants are expected to have:
- At least a bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering
- Minimum of 10 years experience working in the electric power industry
- Excellent oral and written communication skills
- Minimum of 10 years experience in personnel management
- Familiarity with IEEE power industry standards

Assistant Professor needed in the area of RF Microwave and Power Packaging
The RF-Microwave Laboratory and the National Center for Reliable Electric Power Transmission (NCREPT) of the Electrical Engineering Department at the University of Arkansas invites applications for a research assistant professor in the area of RF Microwave and Power Packaging starting in January 2008. Energetic, motivated researchers seeking challenging and fulfilling research careers are sought to aid in the University of Arkansas’ quest for excellence. Applicants are expected to have:
- A Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering or be graduating not later than March 1, 2008.
- Advanced knowledge of RF and microwave devices and circuits, high-speed semiconductor devices, electromagnetics, and numerical techniques.
- Excellent written and oral communication skills; with ability to develop, write, and critique technical papers and research proposals.
- Working experience in clean rooms used for microelectronic fabrication and knowledgeable in the use of equipment related to power packaging (e.g., reflow oven, scanning acoustic microscope, wire bonder, etc.) as well as processes for power packaging (e.g., DBC patterning and etching).

Michigan Tech has announced 10 new faculty positions in Sustainability
Michigan Technological University announces a Sustainability faculty hiring initiative that will add ten tenure-track positions, open in rank, during the next year. These include three endowed chairs:
- The Robbins Chair in Sustainable Management of the Environment
- The Robbins Chair in Sustainable Manufacturing and Design
- The Robbins Chair in Sustainable Use of Materials
Faculty selected for the Robbins chairs will be leaders in their fields and have strong research experience, both within their home and other institutions. Successful candidates for the remaining positions will have outstanding records in their field for respective stages in their careers. They will be expected to develop active research programs and to collaborate in multidisciplinary research, education, and outreach efforts.
Sustainability underpins scholarship on a university-wide scale at Michigan Technological University. Faculty from areas such as engineering, forestry, humanities, business, and the natural and social sciences are actively involved in multi-disciplinary research and education.
